TERMS OF THE COMPETITION

ELIGIBILITY

  • This Championship is open to two-person teams of male amateur golfers who are active NYSGA Members. 
  • To compete in the Senior and Super Senior division, both teammates must be 55 and 65 years old, respectively, as of May 19, 2024.
  • Maximum USGA Handicap Index for each division: Amateur (8.4), Senior (12.0), Super Senior (15.0). See 'Handicap Review' below for more information.

 

ENTRY INFORMATION

  • Entries: Players must register online prior to the established deadline (see below). Entries by mail or fax will not be accepted. A player may only submit one entry. Any player found to have submitted more than one entry may be subject to disqualification.
  • Entry Fee: $425 per team
  • Deadline: Entries must be received prior to the deadline (12PM EST on May 1, 2024). Late entries will not be accepted, regardless of reason.
  • Refund Policy: A portion of the entry fee, based on the schedule below, will be refunded regardless of reason if the NYSGA is notified via phone or email (315-471-6979 or champs@nysga.org). 
    • Withdrawal PRIOR TO Entry Deadline: Entry Fee less $20.
    • Withdrawal AFTER Entry Deadline: Entry Fee less $50.
    • Withdrawal WITHIN 7 DAYS of the Championship: No Refund

 

FIELD SIZE, WAITLIST, AND HANDICAP REVIEW

  • Field/Division Size: 208 total players; 52 teams (Amateur), 36 teams (Senior Amateur), 16 teams (Super Senior). If any field does not reach capacity, open spots will be filled using teams from another division's waitlist.
  • Determining Field & Waitlist Procedure:  Registration for this Championship is NOT on a first come, first served basis. The field is selected "low-to-high", based on the teams combined Handicap Index as of the entry close date. Each team's entry will be added to the Championship's pending registration field and their credit card will not be charged. When entries close on May 1st, each team's combined Handicap Index will be calculated and ordered from low-to-high. The team's in each division with the lowest combined Handicap Index, based on division size (above), will then be approved by charging their credit card the full entry fee. Approved teams will immediately receive an email confirmation confirming their spot in the Championship.
  • Waitlisted Teams: Any team that that does not earn a spot in the field will be placed on a waitlist ordered by their combined Handicap Index and notified of their status and order by email.
  • Handicap Index Review: A player may be subject to Handicap review if he does not have at least five scores posted since July 1st, 2023. The NYSGA reserves the right to amend the field/waitlist at any time and for any reason.

 

SUBSTITUTIONS

All substitutions must be made by emailing champs@nysga.org with the following policies in place:

  • Before Entry Deadline: A player may add a new partner at any time prior to the close of entries. 
  • After Entry Deadline: If a team is selected for the Championship and then requires a partner change, they are permitted to do so as long as the team's combined Handicap Index remains at or below the established low-to-high cutoff at the time entries closed.

 

CHAMPIONSHIPS, FORMAT, & SCHEDULE

  • Championships: There are three Championship divisions conducted concurrently at Turning Stone Resort Casino:
    • 13th NYS Men's Amateur Four-Ball
    • 12th NYS Men's Senior Amateur Four-Ball
    • 2nd NYS Men's Super-Senior Amateur Four-Ball
  • Format: 36 holes of four-ball stroke play
  • Courses: The Championships divisions will play the following courses:
    • Amateur: Kaluhyat (Sun) // Shenendoah (Mon)
    • Senior/Super Senior: Shenendoah (Sun) // Kaluhyat (Mon).
  • Schedule of Events
    • Saturday, May 18: Practice Rounds (Reduced Rate)
    • Sunday, May 19: Round 1 (18 Holes) - 1:00pm Shotgun
    • Monday, May 20: Round 2 (18 Holes) - 8:30am Shotgun
  • Ties: In the event of a tie for any Championship, a sudden-death playoff will be held immediately following play.

 

ROOM RATE
There are room rates at the Turning Stone Resort for the Hotel, Lodge, Sandstone Hollow, and Tower. Reservation information is included in the tournament confirmation email. THIS DOES NOT GUARANTEE YOU HAVE A SPOT IN THE FIELD - the wait list applies procedure (see above).

 

CADDIES & GOLF CARTS

  • Caddies: The use of a caddie is prohibited.
  • Golf Carts: The use of a golf cart is required, payment for which is included in the entry fee.
